Will a machine that remembers your weight be popular? For some audiences, it already is. Tanita Corp has developed a body composition meter-integrated scale that remembers your weight. But that’s not all it does. It also helps users measure their internal body fat ratio and internal age using (an industry first) constitution meter.

Why? Well… although a scale as technologically advanced as this would make some women paranoid, it is mostly aimed at the health conscious, those interested in weight loss and serious athletes. So unless your a model, an Olympic skater or belong to some other group that needs to keep tabs on their weight constantly, this may be overkill for you.

The scale comes with a SD memory card, where measured data is automatically recorded, so it can be used with your computer. USB connectivity was considered, but Tanita Corp felt an SD memory card would be more durable, when compared to the frequent insertion and removal of a standard USB connector. It also comes with data management software that you can use to draw chronological graphs of your progress, or lack of.

Have a guest who doesn’t want to have their weight recorded? Don’t fret, there is a way around the feature. Guests who don’t want to have their weight remembered on your scale can use an internal system feature designed just for them. If they forget, if gives you an easy way to blame the extra 10 pounds you just gained on the last person (who wasn’t you) that used your scale.

Tanita Corp has announced that will be two weighing scale models available the BC-569 and it’s higher priced rival the BC-309. Both scale models are scheduled to hit the Japanese market April 2010 and will be available for 13,000- 18,000 Yen (which is about $145- $200 USD). These hi-tech weighing scales will be available in several colors for the design conscious. Although, this scale may not be for everyone, it definitely has a target consumer market audience that might appreciate all the tech extras.
