No iPads Coming This Month… Or Maybe Just Mine!

First we heard there will be 300,000 then 600,000 to 700,000 iPad units shipping in March. Now we hear that only about 250,000 units will be available later this month which is really sad and troubling. Not because we necessarily need the device but because it’s either analysts or manufacturers, Apple included, that are toying with our already mixed feelings regarding this particular new tablet.

Would it be so hard for anyone to come clean? Are there any production issues? If yes then start pre-orders already and those people really interested in the iPad will be the first ones to sign up for it. If no then everything will go on as scheduled and even more people will buy it when it becomes available.

We don’t need all this drama around the launch and I guess it’s safe to say the device won’t be a flop. It will sell very well even if it has plenty of flaws which we’ve been able to spot from day one.

Bringing the bad news this time around was Think Equity’s analyst Vijay Rakesh which apparently has Taiwanese sources telling him that there are “minor delays” in production of the iPad. Well if there are delays and 200,000 to 250,000 is the actual number of iPads that will be available there weeks from now, then they are hardly minor. Major would be the better word suited to describe those issues.

It is believed that in April Apple will be able to ship around 1 million iPad units as long as it will have as many buyers for them. So, if your Wi-Fi iPad doesn’t arrive in March you will most certainly get it in April. Not to mention that some of the hungry iPad customers are actually waiting for the 3G version which is coming in April anyway. Just to make it even easier for you I’ll happily donate my spot in line for a Wi-Fi iPad for you and keep waiting some more, maybe something more interesting comes out.
