Microsoft Windows 7 Sells 90 Million Copies Since Launch
After only four months since its launch last October, it’s finally confirmed that Windows 7 has been a sales success, as it sold nothing less than 90 million copies so far. Officially announced byMicrosoft CFO, Peter Klein, during the Morgan Stanley technology conference, this is an all-time high for Microsoft’s OS, surpassing Windows Vista by a long shot, as it only managed to sell just 40 million copies in some three months.

While Klein didn’t say why the big numbers, if we’re to guess it’s a combination between better marketing (offering a Beta version for more than half a year) and improved functionality (a nicer user interface that resembles with MAC OS. The interesting part however, Windows 7 has managed to set new records despite the cloudy financial environment, as we’re hearing October 2009 has been a much better month, even compared with January 2007.
“That’s a lot of Windows 7. We’re humbled and excited that people are responding so positively to Windows 7 – our customers have made it the fastest selling operating system in history,” the company has announced on their official Windows blog.
I don’t know about you guys, for use here at TFTS it sounds like an amazing achievement.
