Microsoft Project Pink Phones to Come from Verizon? [Leaked Shots Prove Project Pink Existence; Actual Launch Unconfirmed Yet]

So guess what the cat dragged in today? Well, fine, cats can’t surf the web but I found pictures showing the upcoming Project Pink phones again. Microsoft is supposed to launch them at some point later this month and we hear Verizon is getting ready to grab that chance.

It’s not like we desperately needed new pictures to confirm the fact that Project Pink phones are on track for release but it’s still good go get updates on their progress. The phone in the really really blurred image here is supposed to be the Pure which happens to be a Sidekick-like handset also heading to Verizon.

I say also because the Turtle, the other Project Pink phone supposedly crafted after Microsoft’s commands has been proven to come to Verizon too. A Verizon ad showing the Turtle has been leaked earlier today and according to various tipsters the Turtle is coming to Big Red in April and it will not be running Windows Phone 7. We kinda figured that out since Windows Mobile 7 is going to be available to consumers only later this year.

The Turtle is said to be a social networking-based phone and so is the Pure. They will be running a different mobile platform, somewhat similar to Windows Phone 7 but not the real deal. This new OS is said to look and feel like WinMo 7 with Zune on top and it’s even supposed to have support for apps. But what is it exactly and how will it be able to run apps? Are we talking about non-Windows Phone 7 apps?

We expect Microsoft to shed some light on its Project Pink featurephones later this month and we’ll be waiting for Verizon to properly announce them. We don’t have any pricing details at this point and actual release dates. Oh and when I say featurephones, I do mean featurephones as both the Turtle and the Pure won’t be able to meet your needs if you’re shopping for a brand new smartphone.
