LG Preparing Android Phone For Korea [LG's LU2300 Will Run With Snapdragon Processor, Android OS, Challenge Samsung For Korean Android Market]
LG is apparently attempting to retake and defend their native South Korean market from the likes of popular phones from HTC and Apple. We learned earlier this week that they were going to bring South Korea’s first 1GHz smartphone to market, and now they’re preparing a new Android phone.

The LG LU2300 will feature a super fast 1GHz Snapdragon processor, along with a (surely stunning) OLED screen (no confirmation on the exact size, yet). It’ll also have support for Korea’s Mobile TV, and will also be carrying a 5-megapixel camera that can record video in 720p.
The iPhone was released to South Korea (officially) only last November, and quickly begun dominating the smartphone market where local giants LG and Samsung control 80% of phone sales. LG will be pushing the ‘smartphone app’ angle with their new LU2300, but not the one you think.
While the iPhone has an app library of over 140,000 apps, LG is including a ‘large number’ of ‘common apps’ on their Android LU2300 phone. Their sales pitch will be that users won’t need to buy apps, because the LU2300 will (supposedly) already have it included. We’ll see if it will help LG move phones.
LG is including an augmented reality app with their LU2300. It isn’t clear if its Google Goggles or something else.
The LU2300 is set to be released in Q2 of this year. LG and Samsung are fierce rivals (in case you hadn’t heard) and it’ll be interesting to see what Samsung’s counter-move is in their constant battle for the South Korean electronics industry.
