I am as hopeful as anyone, though - makes no sense to me why every streetlight, laptop, camera, radio, cellphone, videogame, and most other electronics aren't solar-powered by now... At least it is enough to charge all our mobile gadgets (which we seam to have more of every year.) In the future devices like these will no doubt become better and more efficient so they can run individual home appliances perhaps. If you're like me, the combined electricity use of a HTC Hero (g1), Nintendo DS, GPS and Nikon D60 likely adds up to over $100 a year in electricity costs. I suggest only that a gadget like these could pay for itself, and to me, $100 is a pretty significant portion of my electric bill. Halve that, and it's still pretty staggering. @tommy T,
