So let’s see folks what this Maingear mx-L 15 multimedia notebook is all about, shall we?

The laptop will feature Intel’s 2010 Core i5 and Core i7 mobile processors that will bring to the table fast cache, Turbo Boost Technology and Hyper-Threading, or just the right features that are needed to power your modern computers.

The mx-L 15 also packs up to 8GB of dual DDR3 memory which will certainly make its presence felt. Other features include the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics a 15.6-inch LED-backlit widescreen LCD capable of resolutions up to 1,600 x 900, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity, 2-megapixel webcam, fingerprint reader, a choice of HDDs and SSDs, e-SATA, HDMI and USB connectivity, 7-in-1 card reader, DVD burner, full desktop keyboard with included keypad, touchpad with multitouch support and, of course, Windows 7 in the background.

The laptop sounds like a powerful machine that will certainly help you enjoy your multimedia files to the fullest and I’m thinking more about HD movies here. The mx-L 15 could very well act up as a gaming machine although Maingear made it clear that this baby is all about multimedia.

As I said above, pricing starts at $999 but don’t think you’ll get all those hot specs included in this basic price. You should be ready to spend a lot more precious cash especially if you want to include that new processors, lots of RAM and a SSD in your custom built mx-L laptop.

Before making a decision that will remove a large portion of your savings from your bank account you could also wait for Apple to unveil their new MacBook Pros which should be equally competitive and equally expensive. What’s the next laptop you plan to buy?
