MSI 890GXM-G65 Motherboard Revealed
MSI released information on their newest motherboard, the 890GXM-G65. This new mainboard uses AMD’s new 890GX chipset with lets you use their latest and greatest Phenom processors. It also will have a ton of features for the enthusiast, including the OCGenie feature, a foolproof way of overclocking your computer.

MSI hasn’t released exact specs on the new motherboard, just a press release highlighting the features, but we expect it to have the AM3 processor slot and use DDR3 memory. The new chipset will have support for AMD’s new Thuban processors. Their coveted Thuban processors are their first consumer six-core processors. Boards using the 890GXM chipset (like this MSI board) are the first to be able to use these new Thuban processors (although AMD will be patching in support for some older chipsets via BIOS updates).
This new MSI motherboard will have MSI’s OC Genie technology where the motherboard will automatically overclock your parts to 15% of their regular operational speeds. This can pretty much be explained as “overclocking for dummies”, as it doesn’t force the user to manage voltages or temperatures.
The 890GXM-G65 will have USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0 connectors. It’ll also have ATI Radeon HD 4290 integrated graphics (somebody who would probably buy this board wouldn’t use integrated graphics, but I digress) with DVI and HDMI video ports. This probably makes it among the first mainboards to come with integrated graphics that have HDMI and DVI ports.
To round out of the features of the 890GXM-G65 motherboard, MSI says they’re using “military-grade” parts for the solid state capacitors that make up the motherboard’s construction. This supposedly allows the mainboard to run longer, hotter and have a longer lifespan overall.
No word from MSI on pricing or a release date. Don’t expect it to be cheap.

re: “This probably makes it among the first mainboards to come with integrated graphics that have HDMI and DVI ports”
I am currently running a Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H motherboard, which has integrated Radeon 4200 HD with D-SUB, DVI and HDMI outputs. I’ve had this since October 2009, and I know this board wasn’t the only one to offer these video options.
I stand corrected then.
