The phone that was leaked as the LG Arena Max is going to be released in its native Korea as the LG Maxx. This phone has no relation to the LG Arena, which recently made its debut in the United States. Believe it or not, it’s the South Korean market’s first 1GHz smartphone.

It’s a bit hard to believe that South Korean, the land of Samsung and LG has yet to have a 1GHz processor smartphone, but it’s true. The LG Arena Max will now be called the “LG Maxx” with model number LG9400. It will have a Qualcomm 1GHz CPU, but will use the QSD8650, versus the QSD8250 that the Nexus One uses.
In addition to the fast processor, it will have a 3.5-inch touchscreen, support for HD video (they don’t say if its 720p or 1080p) and a 5-megapixel camera. For connectivity, it will run on GSM bands and will also have WiFi and GPS connectivity. It will even have support for mobile TV (T-DMB).
No word on what operating system the phone is running but it is running with LG’s S-Class UI. The phone will make its debut in South Korea on LG’s own LG Telecom service provider. While this phone will remain a LG Telecom exclusive for a while, LG will release other 1GHz smartphones to the other major South Korean telecom carriers.
No word on pricing, or a release date, or if this phone will make an appearance outside of South Korea.
