Archos 7 & Archos 8 Home Tablets Officially Announced [New Android Archos Tablets Billed as a Bridge Between a Smartphone and a Desktop PC]
Archos have just gotten official concerning their new tablets, the Archos 7 Home Tablet and Archos 8 Home Tablet, both of which employ Android OS and which utilise ARM9 CPUs – the latter meaning that these new Archos Android tablets are not exactly over powered.

Billed as being multimedia tablets, the new Archos Home Tablets are billed as combining tablet functionality whilst also serving as ‘high-quality’ digital picture frames and, along with being capable of displaying your snapshots offer access to the Internet, e-mails, social networks, e-papers, photos, videos, music and weather updates.

The Archos 7 Home Tablet sports a 7” touchscreen display and, thanks to its diminutive size (the Archos 7 measures in at a mere 12mm in thickness, incidentally) and weighing in at a mere 350 grams offers extreme ease of portability whilst, in terms of features, you can factor in integrated WiFi, USB connectivity and a battery life coming in at around 7 hours endurance for video playback and around 44 hours for music playback.

The Archos 8 Home Tablet ups the Archos 7’s display size by an inch (8” display) and is billed as being designed primarily for surfing the Internet, accessing web services and video playback whilst also serving as a digital picture frame.
The wholly uninspiring (it has to be said) Archos 7 Home Tablet is set to hit retail next month (April) with the 2GB model coming in at just shy of €150 whilst the 8GB Archos 7 Home Tablet will set you back just short of €180. The Archos 8 Home Tablet, which is set to become available from May, will come with 4GB of integrated memory and will retail at around €150.
File under totally forgettable.
