27-inch Apple iMac: to Buy or Not to Buy?

27-inch iMac Issues Fixed; So Says Apple

That’s right, people, more time has passed but we haven’t forgotten about the issues that plagued Apple’s flagship desktop. You yourself might have gone through the terrible hassle of trying to have your iMac fixed only to have to ask for a full refund later.

So, the natural question that comes to mind right now is, is it finally safe to buy a 27-inch Apple iMac? Or does one still have to wait?

It would seem that Apple has fixed all the problems and iMacs are currently shipping in 3 to 5 business days. And here’s what Apple had to say about the whole thing:

We’ve addressed the issues that caused display flickering and yellow tint. Customers concerned that their iMac is affected should contact AppleCare.

We would have loved Apple to come clean a long while ago. After all, everyone can make mistakes and nobody declared Cupertino a flaws-free company. On the contrary, it takes some balls to admit your flagship device is not so perfect and this time around Apple failed to come clean as soon as the initial iMac issues have been spotted.

Now that Apple publicly acknowledged the iMac issues one would think that everything is ok with the desktops. So in case you feel lucky and you still have that money that you were willing to use for buying an iMac you might as well go ahead and order one again.

The good news here is that the iMacs are again delivered on time which means that there are no production problems and everything has been tested and fixed.

Either way you’ll end up winning here. Should the flickering and yellow screens appear again you now know exactly how to get your money back. Should the iMac work just fine then you will finally have a very dependable tool to help you through your busy work days.

I’m ready to buy a new 27″ imac. While searching the internet for deals I ran across many articles and comments from recent purchasers about problems with the 27″ displays. Even though apple says the issue is resolved, would buying from an internet source that may have had the computer I order in stock for 2 months put me at risk of buying a defective machine that I will have to return or get fixed?
