Nokia's Symbian4 User Interface Official on Video

Symbian 4 UI Hints to What Nokia is Up To, Yet It Fails to Impress

If we ever had high hopes Nokia’s operating system, the highly anticipated Symbian^4 would be the one we’re counting on to help the Finnish manufacturer regain its lost marketshare. Speaking of which, we at the TFTS quarters have just watched the first Symbian^4 video appearance and, in honesty, we can’t say we’re that excited about it.

Of course, Symbian^4 looks quite sleek. It comes with a familiar layout for touchscreen devices these days, has three home screens that can be customized with widgets and live information (world time or a weather app), but by no means that’s revolutionary in any way. While we do agree it’s hard to come up with something to blow us away, Symbian^4 is nothing more than an upgraded, very touch-centric mobile OS.

While these videos are only a “first glimpse” to what Nokia is going to make out of Symbian^4, I’m quite reluctant that it will be the big step forward everyone is talking about. Only time will tell, which means that we’ll have to wait til 2011 before Symbian^4 gets us excited with its features.

How about you guys? Do you like it?
