ASUS N61JV-X2, N71JV-X1 Laptops Debut NVIDIA Optimus Technology [New ASUS Laptops Feature NVIDIA's Dual GPU, Power-Saving Tech]
ASUS has revealed two new laptops that feature NVIDIA’s Optimus technology, a system that switches between a performance-grade NVIDIA chip and the Intel HD integrated GPU for power sipping, lower profile tasks. The ASUS N61JV-X2 and N71JV-X1 laptops will be two of the first to offer NVIDIA’s Optimus in the US.

With battery life remaining an important stat in the eyes of laptop buyers, PC and component manufacturers have sought new ways to extend battery life without touching the battery itself. NVIDIA’s Optimus technology is designed to do just that. Graphics-intensive applications will be powered by an NVIDIA GeForce GT 325M GPU, but Optimus will switch to the basic, power-saving Intel HD integrated GPU for non-demanding tasks like web browsing and office productivity.
Beyond the Optimus technology that will debut in these ASUS laptops, the N61JV-X2 and N71JV-X1 are available as a “good or great” pairing. The Asus N61JV-X2 will feature a 16-inch display and a 2.53GHz Intel Core i5-430M processor, while the N71JV-X1 version sports a larger 17.3-inch display and a 2.26GHz Intel Core i3-350M. Both will feature the NVIDIA GeForce GF 325M GPU and the Intel HD integrated processor running Optimus, 4GB of DDR3 memory, 500 GB HDD, a DVD burner and the Windows 7 OS.
The ASUS N61JV-X2 and N71JV-X1 laptops are available today starting at $900.
