Lanncer LEC-7020 Nettop Revealed [Embedded Industrial PC Feature Atom N270 Processor, 3G Connectivity, GPS]

This new mini-computer from Lanner is technically being called a ‘nettop’ by some but considering it’s heatsink industrial design, it seems it would be much more at home running an assembly line than acting as a cheap media center PC. The Lanner LEC-7020 will be running an Atom processor and can run both Windows or Linux.

It will be carrying the Atom N270 processor, which clocks at 1.6GHz. It will have Intel integrated graphics, as well as 2GB of DDR2 RAM. Specs wise, it’s a pretty common nettop. The real appeal here is the fanless heatsink steel enclosure that it’s constructed in.

For ports, it’ll have two Ethernet, four USB, VGA and a couple of serial ports, along with audio ports. Inside the embedded PC, you’ll find a SIM reader and a GPS receiver. In addition to having GPS functionality, the LEC-7020 can get wireless 2G/3G internet connectivity.

The side panel of the case reportedly opens up very easily, and users can choose either between having a 2.5-inch HDD for storage, or an CompactFlash memory reader. As for size, the device is only 42mm tall. For industrial applications, it has a built-in temp sensor from Winbond that monitors the computer’s ambient heat. It seems likely that this thing could be embedded into some machine that would run hot, so it would be important for the users to monitor the heat of the device.

Pricing is on a per-customer basis, but it’s now shipping. It will support Windows XP and XP embedded, as well as any Linux kernel 2.4.16 or newer.
