ZAGGsparq Portable USB Charger

$100 Charger Offers Dual USB Ports, 6000 mAh Battery

USB is pretty important to any tech or gadget user, not just for data but also for power. The folks at ZAGG have come out with a USB charger/backup battery supply that has got a good compact design and would be useful for any road warrior.

ZAGG’s primary business is their cell phone and MP3 cover and skin business, but we’ve also covered some of their other ventures, including their headphones and media aggregator box. This time, they’ve gone outside the box again with the ZAGGsparq. It isn’t just an AC/USB power adapter, they’ve also included a 6,000 mAh Lithium battery for a portable backup.

The ZAGGsparq has two USB ports, so it can charge both devices at the same time. It has some LED lights to display how much power is remaining on the battery (100%, 75%, 50%, 25% – pretty simple, but it should work). They’re reporting that the 6,000 mAh battery has enough juice to fully charge four iPhones from empty, which is a pretty impressive feat – if it’s true. Your mileage may vary.

It’s got a pretty compact size (3.5 x 3.5 x 1 inches) and weighs just 0.54 pounds (244 grams). With such a small size, it could end up being a pretty useful gadget for folks who travel a lot. The only problem I see with this device (haven’t tried it, admittedly) is it’s price. ZAGG is selling it for $100. ZAGG devices often carry a steep premium, but the ZAGGsparq does have a pretty hefty battery backup system inside.

The ZAGGsparq is now shipping from their website.
