ViewBook Pro VNB131 Gets Official

ViewSonic Announces the ViewBook Pro VNB131 ULV Notebook: 13.3-IN Display, Intel ULV SU7300 Core 2 Duo CPU & 12-hour Battery Life

While we’re all waiting for the new MacBook Pro to be revealed we can definitely check out what the competition is doing. Today we have a brand new laptop from ViewSonic, a company otherwise known for its LCDs.

The ViewBook Pro VNB131 is a 13.3-inch machine that’s definitely worth checking out. The notebook will be available in the second quarter of 2010 and it will cost just around $949. But let’s see what the VNB131 is all about!

The VNB131 will be a great tool for entertainment but it will definitely complete work-related tasks with ease too. The ViewBook Pro will offer you a 13.3-inch LED-backlit screen capable of a 1,280 x 800 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The screen uses Mercury-free LED backlight technology, “requires less power, stabilizes faster and has longer life as well as superior color uniformity.”

Moving pass the screen we’ll discover an aluminum-magnesium alloy case, a 1.3GHz Intel ULV SU7300 Core 2 Duo processor, an Intel GS45 + 1CH9M chipset, 2GB of DDR2 SDRAM, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 2 1-watt speakers, a 2.5-inch 320GB SATA drive, 10/100 Ethernet LAN, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, 2 USB 2.0 ports, VGA, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, headphone and microphone jacks, 7-in-1 card reader, HDMI connectivity and a DVD drive.

The battery is expected to last for 8 hours which is comparable to Apple’s batteries used in the MacBook Pro line. But the ViewBook Pro will also offer you an additional battery that gets you up to 4 hours of life. That’s a total of 12 hours of battery life, not that you’ll need your laptop to run on battery juice alone for that long very often.

As you expect the laptop will run Windows 7 and in case you’re wondering how big this ViewBook Pro really is you’ll have to know it measures 12.67 x 1.0 x 9.4 inches and has a net weight of 3.61 pounds. So what do you say? Would you give the ViewBook Pro a chance?
