Samsung Launching 3D LED TVs in US, EU

Samsung C7000, C8000, C9000 3D LEV TVs Coming in March

Samsung has announced that it will begin shipping a series of 3D-capable LED TVs to the United States in March, with similar C Series sets on their way to Europe as well.  The Samsung C7000, C8000 and C9000 3D LED TVs will be available overseas, while 46- and 55-inch 3D LED TVs will hit the Sears retail chain in the US starting at $2,599.

The new Samsung C7000, C8000 and C9000 3D LED TVs that are aimed for Europe will start at 40-inches diagonally and all will use the Samsung exclusive 200Hz processor.  They will be capable of receiving a 3D signal from cable, satellite, a 3D-capable Blu Ray player or the Sony PS3.

The yet-to-be named US 3D TVs will hit the Sears retail chain in march, including 46-inch and 55-inch sets with the same 3D support of the C series that is heading to Europe.  The 46-inch version will be available for $2,599.99, while the 55-inch set will sell for $3,299.99.

Unfortunately, none of the Samsung sets are scheduled to ship with included 3D glasses.  The standard versions you can take home from the movie theater will not work on these units, as Samsung will use proprietary formats.  We doubt this will add much to the price, but if you take home the 55-inch version and have a family of five, expect that price to soar closer to the $4k mark after adding glasses, taxes, cables and connectivity.

Impressive, the question is how much will the glasses cost and will they constantly break down and require us to constantly buy new pairs?

I am a bit skeptical of goggles 3d tv, I think people won’t be that impressed. For me the hot selling equipment will be the non goggle 3d tvs currently in development.
