Project Natal Coming in October 2010?

Rumors Suggest Microsoft to Launch Project Natal at Some Point This Fall

I am sure that by now you are more than familiar with Microsoft’s upcoming gesture- and motion-controlled gaming universe. Redmond will release Project Natal by the end of the year and new rumors suggest that the console add-on will arrive at some point in October 2010.

Unlike Nintendo’s Wii, Project Natal will not require a physical controller. It will simply let the gamer control the games through gestures, motion and voice. And unlike Wii games, Project Natal games will look a lot better since they will employ superior graphics.

According to UK television presenter Jonathan Ross, who has already tested the new gaming controller, Project Natal is coming in October and we should see it in stores by November 2010. The presenter seems impressed with the device although it’s “not quite there yet”, “but tye have til October and if they get it right… skys the limit.” That’s the actual tweet so don’t blame us for the spelling mistakes there. What we’re interested in is Project Natal and what it will mean for the current gaming universe.

According to the latest rumors, Project Natal will cost up to $99 and it will work with all existing Xbox 360 consoles out there. Microsoft didn’t announce a new Xbox model yet but it would definitely make sense to see a brand new one by the end of the year. We don’t necessarily expect any particular changes yet but since Sony changed the design of its PlayStation and turned the Slim versions into bestsellers, Redmond might do the same thing and bundle the newly redesigned Xbox 360 machines with Project Natal peripherals.

This all speculation so far and we’re yet to see Microsoft confirm or deny any of these Project Natal-related rumors. There’s plenty of time to go until E3 2010 and something tells me we’ll see more gesture- and motion-control gaming rumors by that time.
