Olympus SP-800UZ 30x Superzoom Takes Pre-Orders, Too [SP-800UZ Superzoom Camera to Feature 14MP Sensor, Does 720p Video Recording]
Those who were impressed (us included) with Nikon’s CoolPix P100, are in for a big surprise as we caught another superzoom that has become available for pre-oreder on Amazon. Dubbed Olympus SP-800UZ, we’re looking at a slim, elegant and lightweight compact camera that features a 30x wide-angle optical zoom lens, a 14 megapixel sensor with dual image stabilization and autofocus tracking, along with face detection technology and a large 3-inch LCD.

Although the new Olympus SP-800UZ is comparable with the CoolPix P100 (which, by the way, is just a 26x superzoom), it can’t shoot at Full HD 1080p resolutions but only has 720p video recording. That could be the reason why the P100 costs $400 and the SP-800UZ is going to set you back for only $349, while still including some extra goodies, like a spare high-capacity battery, mini tripod, lens cleaning kit, and a USB card reader.
Don’t know about you guys, but from our end it sounds like a good deal if you can live with 720p video, but it’s not like you’re not getting enough time to decide which one to go for, as just like the P100, the new Olympus SP-800UZ 30x Superzoom will take three to five weeks to reache your doorstep.
