OCZ Vertex Limited Edition SSD
We’ve covered OCZ’s Vertex range of SSDs pretty extensively here on TFTS – such as the Vertex, Vertex EX and Vertex Turbo – and now OCZ are adding to their Vertex SSD range with the Vertex Limited Edition SSD that, in OCZ’s own words, are ‘designed to please even the most demanding enthusiasts’.

The new 2.5” OCZ Vertex LE SSDs boast transfer rates of up to 270MB/s and 250MB/s (read/write respectively) and, according to OCZ, additionally attain 15,000 IOPS (which equates to 4K random write).
“OCZ has an excellent reputation as a leader in solid state drives, and as new technologies become available, we are continually expanding our solution portfolio to bring enhanced performance benefits to the complete spectrum of our client’s applications,” says Ryan Petersen, CEO of the OCZ Technology Group. “The new Vertex Limited Edition SSD is our fastest, multi-level cell (MLC), performance-based drive yet and delivers both exceptional speed and reliability for customers demanding a superior storage solution including intensive applications such as audio/video editing, mobile computing, and even use in workstations.”

The new Vertex LE SSDs, which make use of ‘the latest controller technology’, come with 3GB/s SATA connectivity and which also offer Windows 7 TRIM support (serving to optimise performance across the lifespan of the drives), are set to become available ‘over the next few weeks’ in both 100GB and 200GB capacity models but, as yet, no specific details have been confirmed regarding unit pricing.
