Avatar on 3D Blu-ray Arriving in November [James Cameron Confirms the Avatar 3D Blu-ray Disc, Fox Denies It]

Now that Avatar has proved all there is to prove by setting box office record after record, we’re hearing that Oscar-winning director James Cameron would like to further cash in on the film’s success by debuting a standard DVD & Blu-ray release on April 22, along with a special edition DVD and a 3D Blu-ray version coming up sometime in November.

In a Wall Street Journal interview, Cameron reckons that lots of companies have invested big in 3D technology (including 3D Blu-ray players or TVs) which is why bringing the film to the home user sounds like a good idea. Also interesting is the actual release date, November, which is when every shopper goes crazy with all those unbelievable BlackFriday deals.

“It’s all right on schedule. We’ll do the Blu-ray and the standard def DVD April 22nd, that’s our plan as of right now, and that’ll be pretty much bare bones. And then we’ll do a value-added DVD and a 3-D Blu-ray in I think November sometime,” said James Cameron. However, a Fox Home Entertainment spokesman seems to disagree with Cameron as he mentioned “3-D is in the conceptual stage and ‘Avatar’ will not be out on 3-D Blu-ray in November.”

At this stage, we don’t know for sure who to believe, but if Avatar comes as a 3D Blu-ray, it will only add up to the big pile of cash the movie has made so far.
