MWC 2010 is basically over but that doesn’t mean the mobile business simply stops today. We’re interested to see some of the handsets announced in Spain become real and we’re waiting for carriers and manufacturers to unveil even more devices all through the year.

The Motorola BACKFLIP is a phone we talked about at the beginning of January when it was made official way ahead of the MWC. Today we’re finally able to tell you when this baby will hit the streets. As expected this Motorola Android device will be available in AT&T stores but now we have arrival dates and pricing details for you.
The BACKFLIP will retail for $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and with a new AT&T two-year contract. The device will be available in AT&T online stores and retail locations nationwide starting with March 7 so in just about two weeks you’ll be able to play with an interestingly shaped Android phone from Motorola.
David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets said about the BACKFLIP:
Motorola BACKFLIP brings together the best of social networking with the nation’s fastest 3G network. With the ability to ride on our newest and fastest 3G network, access to more than 20,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots, and the ability to talk and surf at the same time, BACKFLIP boasts a better 3G experience.
It will be interesting to see if AT&T’s network will meet the needs of its future Android customers. After all it’s not like AT&T reinvented its 3G network in the last months in order to accommodate more smartphones ready to consume the bandwidth.
As you remember the BACKFLIP will come with features like a 3.1-inch touchscreen display, 7.2Mbps HSPA 3G connectivity support, Wi-Fi, aGPS, Bluetooth, 5-megapixel camera with flash, MOTOBLUR UI on top of Android 1.5 and the original BACKTRACK feature which will let you better control your handset. Does that sound like something you’d be interested in purchasing?

I hope this isn’t their backup plan in case they loose the Apple iPhone contract
