Nokia to Build Snapdragon Smartphone by The End of The Year
I’m not sure if it’s just me or the fact that the 2010 MWC in Barcelona concentrated on Android handsets, but Nokia has been rather quiet in the last few weeks. Well not anymore (sort of) as we just caught wind that Nokia is actually considering to build a smartphone that would run on a Snapdragon processor — which is HUGE.

According to Qualcomm chief Paul Jacobs, the Finnish manufacturer will release the new mobile phone by the end of the year, and to our surprise, will run the same Symbian mobile operating system the company has used us with. Although we’d love to see Android on a Nokia device (and a Snapdragon Nokia smartphone would be the perfect choice), it looks like the company still likes Symbian and the fact that the OS is now open source.
So what would the device have under the hood? Since it’s a Qualcomm platform to carry the processing, there’s WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, and most importantly GSM/GPRS/UMTS and HSPA.
Looks like Nokia and Qualcomm have managed to get over those wireless patent lawsuits and are now shaking hands to bring you the smartphone we’ve all been waiting for, sans Android.
Why is it that you always go half-way through Nokia? Don’t you guys ever learn?
