Adesso SlimTouch Pro Keyboard Revealed

New RF Keyboard Uses Wireless ID To Prevent Multiple Keyboard Issues

Some people seem to really enjoy wireless keyboards, but having more than one in close proximity that both run with 2.4GHz RF can cause interference problems. The peripheral makers at Adesso have apparently solved the issue as their using a unique wireless ID system to allow multiple keyboards to work in the same room.

For a connection, it uses a 2.4GHz RF smartlink. Their wireless ID system assigns a random ID out of a possible 65,000, and that’s just on one channel. The Adesso wireless keyboard has a total of 12 channels, which the user can select. It also has a Quick Connect feature that allows users to quickly reconnect their wireless keyboard to their computer after it’s been powered down. Overall, it’ll have a 30-foot wireless range.

As for the keyboard itself, it looks nice, but nothing to write home about. It’s a full size QWERTY keyboard in the “mini” layout, meaning there isn’t any keypad. In the keypad’s place, is a notebook-style trackpad that lets you get wireless mouse control. In addition to the regular 87 regular keys, it features a number of extra multimedia and hot keys.

Battery life is always troublesome with wireless keyboards. While the Adesso wireless keyboard still uses two AAA batteries for power, it has a sleep mode that automatically engages after 10 minutes of non-use. It also can power on quickly and be reacquired by the PC via the “Quick Connect” feature that was previously mentioned.

For interested parties, the Adesso SlimTouch Pro Keyboard (WKB-4200UB) is now shipping and will cost you $120.
