Sony Ericsson MWC: Sony Ericsson Vivaz Hands On

SE Move Forward from the Satio

Just gained a hands on with the Vivaz at the Sony Ericsson MWC press event at the Groucho Club in Soho and, after being pretty unimpressed with the Satio, its good to see that SE are moving on with faster CPUs but, in mind of our Satio review (where we bemoaned the fact that it utilised a resistive touchscreen display) if you’re looking for a capacitive touchscreen – forget it.

In actual fact, the Vivaz is very obviously more responsive than the Satio and in our hands on we found the UI to be especially responsive with no obvious signs of slowdown (as we saw with the Satio). SE particularly pushed the fact that the  Vivaz  its the “smallest phone capable of HD video recording” and having seen it, yes, its pretty compact with smooth contours, delightful in the hand – the Vivaz is a looker.

We couldn’t help but ask, behind the scenes, whether mistakes had been learned in terms of the Satio- the resounding answer was yes, lessons have been learned and SE are moving forward (it strikes me that SE would rather put the Satio behind them).

More on the Vivaz later, but its impressive stuff. X10 mini also here…more coming.
