OpenTablet 7 Gets Official at MWC 2010 [OpenPeak Announces Moorestown-Based OpenTablet 7 Tablet at the MWC; Arrival Date & Pricing Missing in Action]
Just in case you forgot 2010 is the year of the tablet and we already have a new model for you. This time around we’re looking at the OpenTablet 7 a device based on the Moorsetown platform and launched officially at MWC 2010 by OpenProject.

So what is the OpenTablet 7? Well, it’s apparently an “ultra-sleek, portable, touch-screen tablet that combines high-quality telephony with advanced multi-media communications services and applications to deliver an engaging, interactive experience” which doesn’t have a price or an arrival date, at least for now.
Besides Intel’s new platform, the Moorestown, the device will feature a 7-inch multitouch TFT LED-backlit LCD screen, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and “cellular connectivity”, HDMI and USB ports, two cameras for HD video and still images, microSD support, built-in speakers and microphone.
The OpenTablet 7 is supposed to act as a multimedia platform although it can be used as a “fully functioning telephone” too. Dan Gittleman, CEO of OpenPeak said about the tablet:
The OpenTablet is the ultimate control panel, delivering the most commonly accessed multi-media services right to your fingertips anywhere. The all-in-one device allows you to sync schedules, check movie times, listen to music, watch videos, get weather updates, and even monitor energy usage and home security, all from a single, easy-to-use device.
The OpenTablet 7 is no iPad and I guess that’s pretty obvious from the get-go. But the device comes with Flash support, it has two cameras, it offers USB and HDMI connectivity and microSD support and it can even handle phone calls. While it can’t be your primary computer in the house, but then again the iPad can’t either, it can still offer you some interesting features. But in order to be able to fully compare it to the iPad we need some pricing details and arrival dates for the OpenTablet and OpenPeak doesn’t seem interested in mentioning them for now.
