New MacBook Pro or iPads Coming to Best Buy Store Soon?

Placeholder SKU in Best Buy Inventory Database Suggest MacBook Pro Refresh or iPad Arrival

Believe it or not there are other things happening in the tech world besides the MWC 2010. And some of these things are very interesting especially since we’re talking about MacBook Pros and iPads. Just a short while ago we told you how Best Buy has deleted the current MacBook Pro models from the inventory but the MacBook refresh that’s supposed to bring us Intel Core i5 and i7 processors has not arrived yet.

Today we have further evidence that would suggest a MacBook Pro refresh. It looks like Best Buy’s internal inventory database contains three new Apple products in the “Mobile Computing” category. Are these the new MacBook Pros?

Apple’s MacBook Pro line is due a refresh particularly considering that all the competitors are already offering those hot new Intel processors. How long will Apple wait before announcing new MacBook Pros? Last time Apple’s online store was down we suspected the new machines were getting ready to be made public but all Cupertino did was to announce its new Aperture 3 software and prepare the store for Valentine’s Day.

If the updated MacBook Pros aren’t arriving yet, the other plausible explanation for the unidentified additions to Best Buy’s inventory is the iPad. Maybe the giant electronics retailer is getting ready for the iPad arrival. The first iPad version to be sold will be the Wi-Fi model which should hit stores by the end of March. And the Wi-Fi iPad series is comprised of three models, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of storage space. Maybe that’s what Best Buy’s inventory suggests, although I’m sure that neither Best Buy nor Apple will care to confirm anything for now.

So folks, in case you have any information as to what these “Dummy SKU” in the inventory there stand for, then, by all means, share it with us.

These are the new macbook pros. Just look at my login name if you don’t believe me. Nobody can fake that kind of info.

    2. Kirmani says:

I’ve been following the thread on macrumors.com and its safe to say that i dont believe that the dummy sku’s are the Ipad. why? because its classified as “mobile computer” and the ipad is FAR from a computer!

So that being said today may be the day although i’ve been hearing that since president’s day was yesterday they would usually announce it tomorrow..but these are all just my speculation=)

Yes I believe we did say that more than once here at TFTS.

Whoa there, someone is overly sensitive.

    6. Brian says:

Probably Macbook Pro. If the SKUs were for ipads, then that would mean BB will not be carrying Macbook Pros.

    7. Zac says:

It is the iPad. I was checking the inventory sku numbers at my Best Buy and they have been re-classified as “tablet”.

    8. Jdogg says:

I was at our local Best Buy today and was asking about the white macbook. Online they showed they had some in stock, yet they do not display them. When speaking with the gentlemen he mentioned that they were setting up the apple section on Feb 24th. Which would be right after a drop product tuesday. This may coinside with the dummy skus. I also went to the local Mac store, since it is in the same mall he commented that he would suspect that we will see a new 15″ MBP, but the 13″ MBP will likely remain the same for the time being.

All I know is retailers like Frys.com are blowing out their stock. Last week in was the Macbook for $100 off, now it is the 13″ MBP and then the Air for $300 off. Most of their sku’s show unavailible or out of stock for shipping.

      Interesting.

Has anyone thought about the fact that Aple may be delaying the rfresh delibarately, to increase anticipation….
If it were my choice I wouldn’t release refresh ed Mbp until the iPad has be on sale for at least 3days. Coz everyone is saving their dosh for the MBP not somuch the iPad. It would be more benifiting to have us their faithful, buy an iPad then buy the MBP Incase we are desappointed that the ipads don’t have Snow… They are just an oversized iPhone hat still can’t play flash content and will be heavely reliant on an Internet connection to ensure you enjoy all the none multitasked web apps… But I guess those are just my thouhts as I wait too.
It would be nice if he brought the i7 629M on the 15″MBP coz that woUld be better that the 3.06core2Duo
I REALLY NEED THIS REFRESH TO COME NOW – not long yet…

    10. Fraser says:

Maybe be nothing, but just been on the Apple site and you can’t ‘compare macbook pros’. Click on the model you want to look at and you go back to the Macbook page. Maybe indicative of an update today…

    11. Eleanor says:

If you go to bestbuy.com on the internet and put in ipad in there search a webpage comes up. It does not have any items on it yet but the page was there this morning.
