Last month, NEC quietly announced four new models of computers for the Japanese market. The new models range from a regular notebook to a discreet netbook as well as an All-In-One that NEC calls an “integrated space-saving PC”. These new PCs will all have some notable features, including USB 3.0 ports and some Core i7 processors on the high-end models.

The first new model announced is a new addition to NEC’s LaVie line of notebooks. Dubbed the LaVie L, it will come standard with an Intel Core i5 processor and NEC promises a 1.5x improvement in performance over previous editions of the LaVie notebooks. It’ll also come standard with USB 3.0 ports, and a great new design. (The picture above is the older LaVie notebook, not the new one).
Next, they announced two new netbook models, including the LaVie M and LaVie Light. No word whats under the hood of the LaVie M, but the LaVie Light will feature an Intel Atom N450 processor (Pine Trial, for those keeping score at home). The netbooks will come in five colors, including “fresh lime”. The high-end netbook will have a great feature dubbed “help us hand pad”, which was named via Google’s machine translation of the Japanese press release. Your guess is as good as mine.
To round out their selection of new offerings, NEC is a new All-In-One PC, the Valuestar N. The Valuestar N features a 20-inch widescreen display, along with an Intel Core i5 processor. NEC is bragging that the display is only 6cm thick. The high-end configuration will come standard with a Blu-Ray player and a TV tuner.
No word on pricing or availability though. Don’t hold your breath, these models probably won’t ship outside of Japan.
