Energy Book 2061 e-reader Announced

Energy Sistem Debuts Expensive Energy Book 2061 Reader, Fails to Impress

For reasons that go beyond my understanding every manufacturer in the world think they can build a decent tablet and another good example are the folks from Energy Sistem who have just unveiled their new Energy Book 2061 ebook reader.

Far from being the groundbreaking device we’re all looking for these days, the new Energy Book 2061 tries to win your heart over with a 6-inch Vizplex display (16 levels greyscale, 800 × 600 pixels), 64MB of built-in storage space (and a 2GB SD card included) expandable via SD/SDHC memory cards up to 16GB.

An upgrade to the company’s Energy Book 1060, the new model also works as a media player for MP3 files, brings ePub and PDF support, and has the usual page-marking, zoom, book search and image viewer. On top of that the Energy Book 2061 has a battery that promises 6,000 page turns on a battery charge, comes with an USB connection to charge it on your laptop or desktop PC.

The new Energy Book 2061 e-reader will be released in Europe next month (March 12) for a hefty €258 (w/o VAT), or about $352 at today’s exchange rate.
