Toshiba TG02 & K01 Smartphones Get Official at MWC 2010
Toshiba has what it takes to create hit smartphones, but for some reason the company failed to impress anyone yet. The TG01 was the first handset out there capable to use a 1GHz smartphone processor but it also happened to run just Windows Mobile 6.1. But the company did not stop there and it announced a couple of new smartphones at MWC 2010, the TG02, the follower of the TG01, and the K01.

The TG02 is yet another super-slim 9.9mm smartphone which is going to offer you a wide 4.1-inch VGA capacitive touchscreen, “newly designed and highly-intuitive 3D menu,” 1GHz processor and Windows Mobile 6.5 running in the background.
The K01 is the smartphone hardcore texters are looking for. The device will come with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard on board, 4.1-inch OLED capacitive touchscreen display, 12.9mm thickness, 1GHz processor, up to 32GB microSDHC support and Windows Mobile 6.5.
We’ll stop for a second to notice how the TG01 was a Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone in a world that was waiting for Windows Mobile 6.5 and now, a year later, the TG02 and K01 are Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphones announced at the very same event where Microsoft unveiled Windows Phone 7 Series. Is it just me or do we see a pattern here? We have no idea just yet when and if the TG02 and K01 will be upgradeable to WinMo 7 but there’s plenty of time to find the answer to that question. After all, Toshiba did not announce launch dates for these new devices so things might change in the following months.
Alongside the TG02 and K01 Toshiba has also announced a range of new mobile technologies which have been developed in order to improve the overall user experience: the mobile implementation of Resolution+, LCD Control, Voice Translation and the Toshiba Media Controller software. These new software solutions should help you better enjoy your mobile experience from watching videos while on the go to using your handset to respond to voice commands and translate languages instantly or to making “sharing media easier than ever.”
