Motorola CLIQ XT aka QUENCH Android Phone Gets Official at MWC 2010

Motorola Announces New Android Phone; CLIQ XT in USA or QUENCH in Europe Comes with MOTOBLUR on Board

Motorola has decided to launch one more Android handset and today we’re looking at the brand new Motorola CLIQ XT also known as the QUENCH in some markets. The device has been announced at MWC 2010 and it’s the successor of the Motorola CLIQ announced last year. Naturally the device comes with Moto’s MOTOBLUR UI on board but it’s not just a featurephone centered on social networking. The CLIQ XT / QUENCH is said to be a “new touchscreen smartphone” so let’s check it out.

The handset is Motorola’s eight Android device already and it looks like the company is not going to stop anytime soon. Sainjay Jha, co-CEO of Motorola and CEO of Motorola Mobile Devices and Home business said about the device:

As we continue to expand Motorola’s portfolio of Android-powered devices, we remain committed to delivering more of what people want from their handheld devices in easier ways. QUENCH with MOTOBLUR showcases Motorola’s design heritage by offering a compelling differentiation from the traditional Android experience, giving people an easier way to have more messaging, more Web and more music.

Interested in some specs and features? The CLIQ XT / QUENCH will feature a 3.1-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, Wi-Fi, stereo Bluetooth, A-GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, FM tuner, e-compass, 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity, optical trackpad, Flash Lite support, multitouch support and Android 1.5 (at least for now) with MOTOBLUR on top. No full QWERTY keyboard here but that doesn’t mean the XT is inferior to its older brother, the CLIQ.

The CLIQ XT will be available in the USA in March from T-Mobile USA although we have no pricing details for you at this point. In Europe and other markets you will be looking for the QUENCH instead of the CLIQ XT in the first quarter of 2010 but we’ll have to wait a while for pricing details.
