Verizon Wireless & Skype Sitting in a Tree at MWC 2010
It looks like a strange press event is going to take place in Barcelona, Spain next week. MWC 2010 will feature a joint press event and the main speakers are coming from Verizon Wireless and Skype. Not that it’s a bad thing to have such events but what can Verizon possibly want to announce at the Mobile World Congress?

No offence, Big Red, but last time I checked you were mostly interested in finding new ways of dominating the U.S. cell phone business. What would you want to tell everyone attending the Congress in Europe? Shouldn’t be Vodafone invited too? After all Vodafone, your sibling, is the one interested in the mobile market in Europe.
And you Skype, what is so important to tell us that you require the presence of the number one carrier in the USA? Are we in for some VoIP surprises?
The unusually short press release announcing the joint Verizon Wireless and Skype joint event says that whole thing will go down on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 11:15 AM EST. Speaking for Verizon is John Stratton, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Verizon Wireless and Josh Silverman, CEO of Skype. But here’s the full announcement just below:
