Garmin-ASUS nuvifone A50 Gets Android Treatment
The co-branded Garmin-Asus partnership have just added a new product to their nuvifone lineup. Dubbed Garmin Nuvifone A50, the Android-powered touchscreen smartphone brings the enhanced functionality of Google’s mobile OS to Garmin’s experience when it comes to navigation, by offering “more location technology than any other smartphone”.

Delivering turn-by-turn directions, lane assist with junction view, and maps, be it in a car or while walking the streets, the new Garmin Nuvifone A50 gets a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display (480×320 pixels) along with a custom, finger-friendly user interface, has 4GB of storage space expandable via a microSD card and an accelerometer to switch between portrait and landscape mode. On top of that there’s a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus, that promises to automatically geo-tag your pictures.
The new Garmin nuvifone A50 uses satellite, network-based, and terrestrial sources to tell your exact location, syncs with Microsoft Exchange server and since it runs Android, brings all those Google mobile services like Search by voice, Maps with Street View, Gmail, YouTube, and Android Market directly to the phone.
Like it? Then you’ll have to wait a few more months as the A50 will be released in Europe, this summer.
