Two New ATI Cards Introduced

Sapphire Tries Their Hand At Radeon HD 5570, ATI Reveals Radeon HD 5550

A pair of two new graphics cards emerged today. One you’ve seen before, the ATI Radeon HD 5570, which manufacturer Sapphire is now going to start making, and the other, is new, as ATI shows off their new GPU, the Radeon HD 5550, a new entry-level card.

Sapphire is getting into the Radeon HD 5570 market with a pair of two new graphics cards. Each card will have 1GB of VRAM, and will have the same heatsink, and will have the same specs, which are 400 Stream processors, and a 650MHz clockspeed. The differences between the cards?

One will have DVI, VGA and HDMI outputs, while another will have DVI, VGA and DisplayPort outputs. Like the rest of the Radeon HD 5000 series, it’ll have Eyefinity support for three monitors, though I wouldn’t recommend it with an entry-level card, though. The nice thing is that the card can be used in either a slim form factor or in a full size desktop (you lose the VGA port when you’re in the slim form factor) Expect the Sapphire cards to fall in line with the other Radeon HD 5570 cards, pricing wise, expect it to be $70-$80.

On the new front, ATI introduced a brand new member of the Radeon HD 5000 family. The Radeon HD 5550 will take the spot of cheapest card away from the 5570. It’ll have 320 Stream processors, a 550MHz clockspeed, and will have either 512MB or 1GB of VRAM. Fudzilla estimates that the price of the card will be about $60-$70, which is a pretty cheap solution for DirectX 11, or Eyefinity, if you wanted to attempt it with a $60 graphics card.

No word on when we can expect retailers to start selling either the two Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5570 cards, or the new 5550 card.
