T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Gets Updated [MyTouch 3G Adds 3.5mm Jack, Swype For Text Input]
T-Mobile has updated its popular MyTouch 3G phone with upgrades in both software and hardware. The new T-Mobile MyTouch 3G features upgraded RAM, a 3.5mm headphone jack and the new Swype system for fast, QWERTY-style text input.

The new T-Mobile MyTouch 3G’s addition of a simple 3.5mm headphone jack is a serious, but simple upgrade in itself. MyTouch 3G users who want to use their device to store and play back music now can, eliminating the need to carry around a second device. More smartphones should include this feature, yet a surprising few include it. In addition to the headphone input, the new MyTouch 3G also includes a slight boost in RAM. This version will sport 288MB RAM, paired with a standard storage card with 8GB of storage space.
On the software end, the new MyTouch 3G adds a system which alleviates some of the difficulties with text entry. The new T-Mobile MyTouch 3G will be the first for the carrier that features Swype, a finger-sliding text entry system that can be used with just one finger or thumb. Swype features a QWERTY-style keypad, but a user slides a finger across the letters in a word without lifting up that finger– and Swype does the rest.
The new T-Mobile MyTouch 3G is available in stores and online today, priced at $150 with a contract.
