LG Cookie Plus GS500 Touchscreen Handset Gets Official [LG Cookie Plus to Feature 3G, 3-MP Camera, Social Networking Support & Plenty of Touch-friendly Widgets]

It seems that LG is really on a roll these days! After officially launching the LG Mini GD880 and the LG GT350 yesterday the company has unveiled a new touch-friendly featurephone today, the LG Cookie Plus GS500. As you might have guessed the Cookie Plus is the obvious successor of the original Cookie. That particular handset has been quite successful as it already sold in more than 10 million units since launch.

Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communication Company commented on the LG Cookie family:

The LG Cookie Plus is both a celebration of the original Cookie phone, which brought touchscreen technology to all, and an exciting first step in our new line of phones that will continue the Cookie legacy by adding creativity and affordability to the touch experience.

The LG Cookie Plus is supposed to be “sociable, enjoyable and affordable.” In other words not the hot smartphone we’re waiting from LG. The Cookie Plus will be filled with social networking capabilities that will make it a great phone for anybody particularly interested in such features. With support for Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and other social networking sites, the Cookie Plus will definitely meet your needs. Furthermore you will probably be able to access Google’s newest service centered on social networking, Google Buzz, and on top of that LG will offer you its proprietary LiveSquare, a “peer management application” which is going to help you better manage your most important social networking connections.

One more important feature is the Editable Screenshot MMS which lets you capture web images and edit them according to your will before sending them to your favorite contacts.

Besides these social networking tricks you can expect a full touchscreen display, a 3-megapixel camera with digital zoom, MPEG 4 video and MP3 audio playback, FM tunner support, up to 40 widgets and/or pocket applications and 3G connectivity. The LG Cookie Plus already sounds a lot more exciting than its predecessor. The phone will roll out in Italy and France this March while other markets will get it later this year. No prices are available at this time but MWC 2010 might shed some light on pricing details for the newest handsets coming from LG.
