HTC Scorpion Details Leaked

Next Gen HTC Device Could Feature 1.5GHz Processor, Android 2.2

A build file from a new Android-based HTC device has been leaked online, suggesting that HTC is readying a next-gen Android product with serious processing power.  According to the leak, the HTC Scorpion would include a 1.5 GHz processor, WiMax connectivity and the forthcoming Android OS version 2.2.

HTC has had no shortage of news about Android devices this year, and the HTC Scorpion may be its greatest yet.  A build file suggests that the new device could be called either the HTC Scorpion or the HTC Olympian, and in following with the HTC naming conventions for Android devices, it is likely that HTC Olympian could be the final mark.  This new phone could be amongst the first to use Qualcomm’s 1.5Ghz Snapdragon chipset, a unit that is still a few months away from market reality.  The HTC Scorpion/Olympian could also feature WiMax connectivity and the not-yet-available Android version 2.2.

The leak came in the form of a text file relating to this new HTC build.  There are no pictures, video, screencaps or PR fluff– just a coded build file that includes entries like “ro.product.board=cortex1.5ghz” and “ro.product.model=HTC Olympian”.  That’s pretty concrete, if you ask us, enough to suggest that these rumors hold water.
