If you’re in the market looking for a new compact digital camera but you’re also looking for a little extra reach than compacts tend to offer then you may be interested in FujiFilm’s newly announced JZ Long Zoom cameras, namely the FujiFilm JZ300 and FujiFilm JZ500, which boast 10x optical zoom paired with FujiFilm’s advanced CCD-shift image stabilisation which ensures you gain ‘blur-free images even at the full zoom range’.

The newly unveiled FujiFilm JZ300 and FujiFilm JZ500, aside from sporting 28mm wide-angle, 10x optical zoom lenses in bodies that are no less pocket friendly than other compacts (indeed, they come in at a mere 23mm in thickness), additionally boast 720p HD video capture capabilities, up to ISO3200 sensitivity and, of course, in being compact point and shoots, a veritable host of auto and scene modes including Portrait Enhancer and (in the case of the JZ500) Face Recognition and even Pet Recognition.
The new FujiFilm JZ Long Zoom compact cameras, which offer up 12.1 and 14.1 megapixel resolutions (JZ300 and JZ500 respectively) come with ‘approximately’ 40MB of integrated memory which can be supplemented with SD and SDHC memory cards and are set to hit retail in February (JZ300) and March (JZ500) with pricing coming in at around $160 and $250 (again, respectively).
