ViewSonic Moviebook VPD550T Portable
ViewSonic maybe better known for their line of monitors and displays, but that won’t stop them from making a good looking PMP, right? This device is their second in their Moviebook line of HD video-capable portable media players, the earlier one being the VDP400, which we talked about last year.

The VDP500 will feature a 5-inch LCD touchscreen, which is a bit bigger than the previous VDP400 model, which came in with a screen size of 4.3-inches. In addition to its screen, the VDP500 will feature 8GB of internal flash memory for all your video and audio content, which can be further expanded via a microSD card slot. This is the same as the earlier model had.
The screen is capable of full 1080p HD video, and an included HDMI port will let you watch your HD video content on a larger screen. This is also a step up from the earlier model, which only was capable of 720p video output. For file formats, it’ll support most anything out there, including DAT, MPG, MPEG, VOB, MP4, AVI, MOV, DVD Video, ASF, WMV, MKV, TS and RMVB. Audio formats are just as extensive, with MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC, APE, AC3 and DTS.
On your new MovieBook you’ll also be able to read eBooks (which is probably just PDF support, I’d be pleasantly surprised if it included ePub support) and view pictures, as well. Ready to hand over your money? The VDP500 will cost you $200 and will be released in Q1 of this year.
