Samsung M100S Android 2.1 Handset Arriving in March

First Android 2.1 Smartphone from Samsung, the M100S, Goes to Korea]

Samsung has a brand new Android phone, the M100S which is going to hit Korean stores next month. What’s more interesting about it is that the SHW-M100S will run Android 2.1 just like one of its Android rivals, the Google Nexus One.

I’d be more interested in the bada OS-based smartphones that Samsung is getting ready to unveil at MWC 2010 but Android 2.1 handsets will do too.

The Samsung M100S will come with features worth considering: 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen, WiFi b/g/n, T-DMB TV tuner, 5-megapixel camera, 720p HD video recording, GPS, DivX support, 3.5mm headphone jack and Android 2.1 with TouchWiz UI on top. The device will probably be comparable to the Google Nexus One when it comes to specs but it appears that it won’t use those rumored integrated touchscreen AMOLED panels that are also coming next month.

SK Telecom is the carrier that’s going to sell this new Android machine in Korea. Besides support for Google’s Android Market, customers will be able to access SK Telecom’s own T Store for more Android applications.

Since the M100S will come with the much awaited Android 2.1 on board we imagine that Samsung will want to bring the phone to other markets soon. Even if that doesn’t happen we should see plenty of other Samsung-made similar devices hit U.S. and European markets later this year. After all even if bada takes off and receives a more than positive feedback from carriers and their customers Samsung can’t ditch at once Windows Mobile and Android phones, can they?

The MWC will start in less than two weeks and we can expect Samsung to launch quite a bunch of smartphones around the Spanish event. We’ll be waiting for more details in order to offer you a proper insight into Samsung’s smartphone roadmap for 2010, so stick around, folks!
