Motorola Droid Devour Coming Soon [The Calgary Is Now The Devour, Coming Soon To Verizon, Slider Keyboard, MOTOBLUR]

The leaked phone formerly known as the Motorola Calgary will be coming soon to the US via Verizon, and it’s been officially renamed the Motorola Droid Devour. It’s just one of the many Android devices that Motorola plans to launch this year. Along with the name, specs and pictures of the device were shown off, and it’s pretty compact.

The phone will feature a small 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, running at a resolution of 480 x 320. For a processor, it’s packing a Qualcomm MSM7627 running at 600 MHz. It will feature 256MB of RAM, and 512MB of flash storage (ROM).

Reports on the internet say that the phone will ship running Android 1.6 with Motorola’s MOTOBLUR UI wrapper, but have no fear, an Android 2.1 update is planned, and Droid Devour buyers will receive an over-the-air update to Android 2.1 sometime in Q2 2010.

Other features of the phone include the 3-megapixel camera, an optical trackpad, aGPS, WiFi and a microSD expansion slot. Because of the phone’s small size, specs and low megapixels on the camera sensor, internet speculation have pegged this phone as an entry-level low-end device in the Motorola Droid lineup. Despite this, no official pricing has been announced, still, if it’s true, it could be a nice low-cost way to get an Android phone.

The phone will be coming to Verizon, per a picture of a leaked promo box that was sent to Verizon retail outlets, as well as leaked pictures of the phone which were shown with the Verizon logo on it. Blog Androidandme expects Motorola to officially unveil the device during their commercial time during Super Bowl XLIV or perhaps during the Mobile World Congress.
