HP EliteBook 8540w to Boast Next-gen ATI FirePro Graphics
A new HP notebook model has just been spotted in an online spec sheet to feature the next-gen ATI FirePro graphics which are part of the company’s workstation-grade graphics line. Along with two other options from NVIDIA, the rugged HP EliteBook 8540w laptop allows for an optional ATI FirePro M5800 chipset (based on the rather snappy ATI Mobility Radeon 5830 or 5850 chipsets) and comes with a special design that helps with airflow and cooling to handle the new setup.

Since there’s not much about the new ATI FirePro graphics (except that they’re gladly kick Nvidia’s Quadro FX1800M/GeForce GT335M graphics cards), we’re happy to know that the 15.6-inch notebook will allow you to choose from both dual- and quad-core Intel Core i7 (1.6GHz to 2.66GHz) or two Core i5 processors, has 1GB of RAM (up to 16GB), can be ordered with solid state drives (SSD) and will run Windows 7.
No word when or how much the new HP EliteBook 8540w will sell for, but we have a hunch it’s going to be soon enough.
