Apple Owns Up to iPad Misleading Ad & Removes Flash

New Apple iPad Ad Is Flash-Free Just Like the iPad

Yesterday we showed you Apple’s misleading iPad Ad which displayed Flash where it shouldn’t have. That was definitely something tech enthusiasts like us and others did not miss especially after protesting again against Apple’s decision to still not include Flash support in its mobile products. The iPhone and iPod touch don’t have Flash support and neither will the iPad.

It looks like Apple realized its mistake and corrected the situation. That’s a great move from Cupertino which we definitely appreciate. Owning up to one’s mistakes is something we don’t see every day. The ad has been modified accordingly to reflect the real situation. The iPad doesn’t come with Flash support and now the ad shows that. The pages don’t miraculously display stuff they shouldn’t and the blue box appears where Flash animation should be involved.

That means that the first ad wasn’t in fact showing a working iPad unit. Instead the ad showed us a photoshoped iPad which was displaying a complete, fully-working web page. Just what the eye expects to see following Wednesday’s keynote.

While Apple chose to address the issue by removing the untrue renderings of web pages, which again, is a bold move that should be appreciated, we would have loved a different fix for the problem. Why not keep the renderings intact and add some Flash support for the iPad. We don’t really need Flash on the iPhone or the iPod touch although that would be very nice too. But the iPad is a product that says from the get go that it will offer us the phenomenal experience of holding a whole web page in our hands. How will it do that if there’s no Flash?

Truth be told, Apple could never integrate Flash support in its future iPhones and iPads. The company would rather move to HTML5 and convince everyone else to do so in the process. But Adobe’s Flash is not going to go anywhere and we shall continue to be annoyed with Apple every now and again for not being able to browse through some certain websites.

So, I was watching Jobs introducing Ipad. He said something like…. browsing web on Ipad is better than browsing on Computers? LOL how is it better when there’s no flash? Jobs was browsing NY Times and all the flash there were not displaying haha….

You want Flash? Get the Notion Ink Adam in a few month. Tell Jobs you want Flash by putting your money elsewhere. Steve doesn’t give a crap about giving you what you want, only giving you what you’ll buy. If you just hand your money over to him without regard for functionality… well, just know you’re the reason Flash isn’t on the iPad. If the iPad had flopped, because it didn’t support Flash, you can bet your *&# Jobs would have just given in and made Flash work on the device. He didn’t have to though, because his consumers are discriminating.
