Apple iPad Tablet Hardware Revealed [Apple's 9.7-Inch iPad Uses Proprietary 1GHz A4 Processor]

The Apple iPad was officially revealed today at the Apple Live event at the Yerba Buena Vista Center, in San Francisco, CA.  The Apple iPad tablet features a 9.7-inch multi-touch display, up to 64GB flash storage and its own proprietary 1GHz Apple A4 chip in the 1.5 pound, half-inch thick device.

The  Apple iPad tablet was officially debuted today by Apple Chief Steve Jobs, who displayed the device’s hardware functionality to the press audience at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Vista Center.  The Apple iPad will feature a 9.7-inch full capacitive multi-touch screen, a 1GHz Apple A4 chip, 16GB to 64GB flash storage, an accelerometer, a speaker, a microphone and a range of connectivity options.  The Apple iPad also features a 10 hour battery life with over a month on standby, quite a lot to fit in a device weighing just 1.5 pounds and .5-inches thick.

As for connectivity, the Apple iPad features the expected docking functionality of iPod and other devices.  For wireless, the iPad will include 802.11n, WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR standard.  The Apple iPad will also offer 3G connectivity for an additional $130, but without a contract or monthly fees.
