HTC Hero Getting Android 2.0 Firmware Update in March [Android 2.1 for the Hero, in the Works, Too]
HTC Hero users should be happy to know that we can finally confirm they’ll be able to run Android 2.0 on their handsets, soon. Just like its previous move to Android 1.5, HTC is delaying the firmware update to ensure that it works nicely with the device and the company’s own Sense UI, and if the Irish network provider Meteor.ie is to be believed, owners won’t get it sooner than March.

Glynn, a Meteor employee has announced on the company’s forum that they’ve “been in contact with HTC and they have said that version 2.0 will be available in and around March of this year,” which means that in two months you’ll be skipping Android 1.6, pass go and head straight to Android 2.0. He also noted that the “HTC sense UI will be tightly integrated with Android 2.0, as with other versions of the software”.
Regarding the Hero running Android 2.1 (something everyone is looking for ever since the Google Nexus One has made it to the market), the same guy added: “just got another update on this and HTC have said they are releasing 2.1 on the Hero and we are hoping to have this available by the end of March.”
Sounds like good news for HTC Hero owners, isn’t it?
