HTC Supersonic Screenshot Gets Leaked
Just a few days ago we showed you HTC’s leaked roadmap for 2010. Among those seven hot new smartphones there was a WiMAX-ready Android handset called the HTC Supersonic. Today we have a leaked screenshot of the Supersonic which can only make us want to see it in stores as soon as possible.

The Supersonic is the first WiMAX Android phone coming to Sprint later this year and it’s HTC’s first smartphone in the USA that’s going to offer support for 4G technology. So why should we be anxious to see the HTC Supersonic sooner?
It’s not because of its support for 4G speeds since the Supersonic will probably be sold only in the USA, under that name at least. While Sprint and its partner Clear have chosen and deployed WiMAX as their next 4G standard, everyone else is going for LTE. And LTE is a popular standard in other parts of the world too so getting a Supersonic from the States to any other market that doesn’t have a solid WiMAX network will render its 4G capabilities useless.
What’s interesting in this screenshot above is the firmware version, Android 3.0. That’s why the sooner the Supersonic comes, the sooner we will have Android 3.0. And I imagine other manufacturers out there will want to use that particular version as fast as possible.
In the mean time we are waiting for Android 2.1 to be released and used by most Android smartphone manufacturers and with that in mind I’m thinking that version 3.0 seems rather far for now.
One more interesting thing in the screenshot above is the carrier, T-Mobile, since we know that the Supersonic will go to Sprint. Should that make us wonder if T-Mobile has LTE plans for the very near future? Is the company also going to get a Supersonic version? Maybe one that comes with only 3G support?

Well this is mega-fake. HTC has sense UI on all its handsets so why would it go back to the original Android UI?
This has already proven to be a fake. You really should do your research before blindly publishing something like this.
Notice the rounded corners? They only come with cooked ROMs, I won’t name the developer who makes them, but it starts with Cy
Not quite sure why websites keep posting this garbage. It was already proven to be fake.
1. The top bar is from CyanogenMod.
2. What makes you think T-Mobile is ready to launch a 4G phone?
3. All of the information you see can be edited in the build.prop file.
Quit asking stupid questions, and quit spreading baseless rumors.
this was not even worth posting. its obviously fake. why would google go from 2.1 to 3.0. and if they did even, i wouldnt expect it to be on a phone for months. since we see how long it takes to get a new version of android on new phones and our ever-aging android devices.
You’ll notice how I conveniently did not mention anywhere within the article the words “confirmed,” “official” or “press release.” None of the parties mentioned in the post did confirm anything. Furthermore, although we try only to promote the rumors that turn out to be true, the ones that prove to be fake do manage to sneak by us, and everyone else for that matter. But wait a second, you can’t say whether rumors are 100% false or true from the moment you spot them, right?
T-Mobile might not be ready for a 4G phone but by the time everyone else is, it will come up with something. A future 4G smartphone coming to T-Mobile and running Android isn’t exactly something we shouldn’t expect, is it? Android 3.0 will also be released at a certain point in the future, and I guess everyone expects that too.
Now, I’d like to make sure that those rumors out there that are harmful, sloppy, fake, odd or weird not to have their feelings hurt just yet! We will still check them out, read them out loud and even publish them as we wait for official confirmation. What we won’t do is spread them and fight for their cause. :D
Well said, Chris. Whilst I won’t comment on this posting I can say, for a fact, that I’ve posted any an item that had many shouting ‘fake’ or just running the contents of the post down. The reports we brought readers concerning T-Mobile’s Project Dark/Black being but one prime example (we even had other sites run us down for the info we offered up concerning the Project being pricing plans – which turned out to be spot on) – and this is not an isolated example, by any means.
The only thing “Real” about this pic is that this is an actual ROM running on an actual phone.
But what I will say is that the Android community has great proficiency with hacking their files to make the phone and OS think it’s something else. We did it when Maps for Android 2.0 came out and we only had 1.6, and it’s easy to just put in any phone name and any OS number.
I would have personally put “2.5″ but oh well.
