DigitalRise X9 Tablet

Out of China Comes a Decent 10.2-inch tablet, Atom N270 processor, Windows 7

While it may not come from a well known brand like Apple, TechCrunch or HP, the X9 tablet looks like it could be excellent. Coming from a no-name Chinese company called DigitalRise, it has a big screen and decent specs for a tablet, and looks like it meets all the requirements you’d want in one.

Before the news of the X9 tablet hit the web, DigitalRise’s only claim to fame was an iPhone clone called the d718i that some in the tech blogosphere said improved on Apple’s well-known design. As for the X9, it’s got a large 10.2-inch multi touch screen, an Intel Atom N270 processor thats clocked at 1.6GHz, 2GB of DDR2 memory, and comes with 160GB of HDD space. Graphics are integrated, and the whole thing is running Windows 7.

It will also have a “high defination” 1.3-megapixel webcam, and WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity. It will even come preloaded with Nintendo NES emulation software, which probably isn’t legal but a pretty nice feature you’d never get from an Apple tablet, but maybe a Nokia one.

The screen will have a resolution of 1024 x 600 and the whole device is about 24.7mm thick. It’s a decent tablet alright, almost makes you wonder if a well-known manufacturer canceled an OEM order for a bunch of tablets and DigitalRise is selling it as their own.

However, it’s a great “current generation” tablet, and with sources within Apple saying that the iTablet/iSlate/iWhatever will change the game of tablets, this X9 could look like a dinosaur after Apple unveils their tablet next week. For interested parties, the X9 is shipping from Chinese tech importers for a price of $780, but high demand has forced a two week waiting period on some sites.
