ASUS DR-570 Color E-Reader Revealed
Just when you thought the e-reader storm had blown over, ASUS drops a bold new device in a big way– in color. The ASUS DR-750 eBook Reader is a color e-reader with a 5.7-inch OLED display that sets a lofty new bar for e-reader device standards.

The ASUS DR-750 has forgone black-and-white electronic ink for the full spectrum of color that can be had with OLED technology. While electronic ink has a sheer advantage in that it sips power, ASUS hopes to squeeze 122-hours per charge out of the DR-750 eBook reader. The slow page turns on the Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble Nook will also be missing on the new ASUS e-reader, as OLED will offer lightning-fast page turns in just .03 seconds on the DR-750.
The rest of the specs are what you’d expect out of an eBook reader. It’ll feature both WiFi and 3G connectivity, 4GB storage and 512MB SDRAM. On the software end, the ASUS DR-750 will provide an RSS reader, an audio/video/Flash player, its own text-to-speech engine and a full web browser. The early rumors are a bit foggy, but it has been mentioned that the ASUS DR-750 would connect to Amazon’s video on demand service, which logically would suggest that the DR-750 would use Amazon’s eBook market.
Expect more from the ASUS DR-750 Color E-Reader in the weeks ahead. For now, this colorful bit of news has been quite a surprise, just a few weeks out from CES 2010.
