Alienware M11x Revealed [Elite Gaming Brand Releases 11-inch Ultraportable Gaming Notebook, HD capable]

Alienware M11X Netbook

Dell’s Alienware branch showed off a new ultraportable notebook computer that packs a serious bunch. Alienware is billing the 11-inch M11X notebook as “the most powerful 11-inch gaming laptop in the universe”. Alienware is making some bold claims for the impressive little notebook.

For processors, Alienware chose a low-power Core 2 Duo chip rather than the beefier Core i5 or i7 processors. The notebook will be able to switch between the Intel GMA graphics and the NVIDIA GeForce GTS 335M card (with 1GB of VRAM), for the sake of battery life. The M11x will have a 6.5-hour battery life while running the GMA graphics, and only 2 hours while “intense gaming” with the NVIDIA card.

The switchable graphics apparently can be done while the OS is running, no need to reboot your computer, which’ll be a nice touch. Alienware didn’t give mention of how much RAM, or the other specs for the machine are – but they did give us some benchmarking scores. On 3DMark, the M11x apparently got in the 6000-7000 range, and Alienware reports that the notebook can easily get 50 fps in Crysis and 30 fps in Modern Warfare 2 on “high” settings.

For connectivity, the M11x will have more ports than you could ever want – including three USB ports, an HDMI port, a DisplayPort, mini FireWire, a VGA port and even a SIM card slot for 3G connectivity. Yeah, Alienware has got you covered.

No explicit word on pricing, but Alienware told press on hand at CES that it will be sold for “less than $1,000″ with “specs maxed”. For those interested, Alienware promised the device will be shipping within the next 30 days. Those who tried it seemed genuinely impressed with the computer, and one tech blog called it “a gaming netbook”.
