ASUS ROG G73jh Notebook Unveiled

New Gaming Notebook Features Core i7, 8GB DDR3, Radeon HD 5870

ASUS has taken the cover off of its latest gaming monstrosity. The ASUS ROG G73jh has enough processing power to rival some desktop computers, what with its Core i7 and DirectX 11 capable ATI Radon HD 5870 graphics card. The computer will be released under ASUS’ Republic of Gamers line of products.

The Republic of Gamers label was established by ASUS in 2006 to help their high-end enthusiast gaming products (motherboards, graphics cards, notebooks) stand out. The G73 will take its place as the most powerful notebook currently offered in the Republic of Gamers line.

The specs of the G73 are as follows – an Intel Core i7-720QM processor (1.6Ghz), up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 card (internal, thankfully) with 1GB of VRAM, and a 17-inch display. It’ll come with dual 500GB hard drives, giving you 1TB of storage, and a Blu-Ray drive will come standard on the notebook. A huge 8-cell battery and a webcam are also on the record. Windows 7 Home Premium will be the factory OS.

When it comes out, the ASUS G73 will be the second most powerful gaming notebook on the market (second only to the $4,000+ Falcon Northwest FragBook), with its high-end Core i7 processor, Dx11 graphics and whopping 8GB of DDR3 memory. The styling on the G73 is inspired by the (retired) F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter. It has angular heat exhausts on the back of the notebook for dispersing heat from the internal workings.

ASUS didn’t give any details on the pricing or availability, but it’ll easily cost in excess of $2,000.

Uh…..exoticpc.com has pre-order on the G73 starting at less than $1700 with all the specs mentioned in this article. Also not sure about it outperforming the dual sli laptops with either the GTX 260m or 280m.
